PERFORMATIVE SCULPTURE & INSTALLATIONS
Hidden Geometry -Nexus 555
Kinetic Installation, Mixed Media
One continuous piece of thread, taught between hanging points, carries the vibration from an industrial motor strike, behind a false wall of the gallery. The room reverberates, visibly and audibly, from the epicentre. Tiny shards of wall emulsion and tape rest delicately on the floor.
A process of close surface discovery and mapping of existing holes in the gallery walls bring the history of the room to the surface.

Through protection and masking, five hundred and fifty five pre-existing fixing points remained unpainted and unfilled by the regular gallery whitewash refreshment. A survey of the adjoining studio workshop uncovered wall fixings, nails, pins and bolts corresponding in size to the historic holes. Once found, they were each placed back into the holes.
Changing State
Ten hour durational performance and resulting mixed media installation
An augmented potter’s spinning wheel, situated in the centre of the square gallery space, controlled remotely by a lever hidden behind a low wall.
Contents of an industrial sized, communal confidential shredding bin and discarded sketchbook pages systematically dipped in plaster, crumpled by hand and thrown at the spinning centre-point of the wheel, in front of a live audience.
The process adjusted the architecture of the space, incrementally, as the wads of paper and plaster slid from the spinning wheel, sending them outwards, against the wall and gathering in the edges of the gallery.

Juice Box
Mixed media kinetic sculpture
A fresh, semi-hollowed-out beef tomato, mounted atop a remote controlled motor, set on 300 gsm watercolour paper.
The tomato makes a drawing through internal vibrations, with activation by remote switch accessible to the audience.

Mixed media Sculpture and Installation with continuous sound
A raw cotton, unupholstered feather bolster cushion sits in the corner by a doorway. Its internal feathers pulled out.
The sound of the process of these feathers being forced back through the cushion surface, plays on loop within the space.
The Impossibility Of Linear Thought

A plastic toy trainset, with a lit LED (set within the Driver’s front booth), runs continually atop a suspended, off-centre infinity track made from cardboard and moulded plastic.
The track is precariously hung at the average adult human eye height (5’3 measured from the floor).
If the train falls from the track: the audience decides whether or not to reset the train.

These Black Lines

Individual slides of Irlen corrective coloured overlays are projected onto a drawing. The slide projector sits centred on state school desk, designed for a single student.
Capture And Suspension

Within the central outdoor courtyard of the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, live a family of Peregrine Falcons. They serve as pest control.
This unfortunate pigeon, in hot pursuit by the falcons, and in vain attempt to escape, dive bombed the net which stretches across the courtyard, at the height of the Level 2 Galleries.
All that remained were its wings, vertebrae and legs.
Bronze sculpture
Cast from the original surviving pigeon wings, after a process of prolonged desiccation.
Replaced in the net and now remain in permanent exhibit at the site where they were found.

Running tap with torn water balloons at the spout, situated in Female toilets.
The label listing and indicating the work is situated outside in the corridor.
The sound of the tap running echoes, bouncing off of the tiled toilet walls and out into the public hallway.
